So, here’s a weird one that just happened this morning – I jump in my 2017 Dodge Charger (with the 5.7L HEMI, around 70,000 miles), and out of nowhere, the brake pedal is rock hard, like I can barely press it down. On top of that, the car won’t start at all. The dash lights up, so I know it’s not a dead battery, but the engine won’t even try to turn over. It’s like the brake pedal isn’t recognizing that I’m pressing it, which has me thinking it could be some kind of electronic issue or anti-theft lockout.
At first, I thought it might just be the cold weather messing with something, but after doing a bit of reading, I’m starting to wonder if it’s the brake booster or a vacuum leak. I’ve also seen some folks mention that if there’s an issue with the brake switch or a malfunction in the push-to-start system, it could lock up the brakes and prevent the car from starting.
Anyone else run into this problem with their Charger? Could it be related to the electronic brake system or something with the ignition? Before I shell out for a tow or call a mechanic, I’d love to hear if anyone has had the same issue and how they fixed it. Any advice or troubleshooting tips would be a lifesaver!
